1. What this site is

KindMeans is a personal project that offers free tools and educational content to help individuals organize their thinking about money. It includes a browser-based budget tracker, downloadable spreadsheet templates, and written guides on personal finance topics.

KindMeans is operated as a hobby project by an individual, not a licensed financial institution, advisory firm, or registered investment adviser.

2. Not financial advice

Nothing on KindMeans is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. The content on this site is for general educational and organizational purposes only.

The guides, articles, calculators, and templates on this site present general information that may not apply to your specific situation. Before making significant financial decisions, consider speaking with a qualified professional who can evaluate your individual circumstances.

Use the information and tools here as a starting point for your own thinking, not as a substitute for professional guidance.

3. Your data

The budget tools stores all of your financial information locally in your browser. We never receive, transmit, or store your financial data. You are entirely responsible for backing up your own data using the tool's export feature.

If your browser data is cleared, your tool data will be lost. We cannot recover it. The export feature exists specifically to protect against this.

4. Templates

Downloadable templates are provided as-is for personal use. You may use them freely for your own budgeting and planning. You may not resell them or distribute them as your own work.

Templates are sold or offered through third-party platforms (such as Etsy or Gumroad). Purchases made on those platforms are subject to that platform's terms. We are not responsible for transaction issues handled by third-party storefronts.

5. External links

This site links to external resources, tools, and government websites. These links are provided as a convenience. We do not control those sites, do not endorse their content, and are not responsible for anything you find or do on them.

We do not receive compensation for linking to external resources.

6. Acceptable use

You may use this site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

  • Attempt to access, modify, or disrupt the site's infrastructure
  • Use automated tools to scrape or copy content in bulk
  • Use the site in any way that violates applicable law

7. No warranties

KindMeans is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site will be available at any particular time, that it will be free of errors, or that any information on it is accurate and current. Financial figures cited in guides (such as contribution limits or interest rate benchmarks) reflect what was accurate at the time of writing and may have changed.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KindMeans and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content. This includes, without limitation, financial decisions made based on information found here.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. When we do, the date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
